Kennett Symphony of Chester County's Annual Children's Concert and Instrument Zoo

Are you tired of listening to The Wiggles, Kidz Bop or Nursery Rhyme CDs with your children? Then, why not open your kids’ eyes (and ears) to the sounds of the symphony!

The Kennett Symphony of Chester County is offering a family-friendly concert, Sunday March 1, 2015  at Lincoln University. On Sunday, March 8, 2015 the same concert is performed at West Chester University. Admission is only $5 per ticket. I have taken my three kids as well as my husband to this concert in the past and it truly is a wonderful experience for children of all ages.

This Week: Best March Events for NYC Families, Camelback Mountain Resort in the Poconos, St. Patrick's Day Celebrations for Kids

With ice and dirty snow piled up everywhere we turn, it's hard to believe that spring is just three weeks away. Our just published March GoList highlights balmy seasonal favorites like Macy's Flower Show and St. Patrick's Day Parades. And yet with temperatures below freezing for the foreseeable future, I bet we're going to be consulting our list of 50 things to do indoors with kids in NYC for a while longer.

But even though it feels like winter is going to last forever, it won't, so it's getting down to the wire for ice-skating, snow tubing and skiing. Our Travel site just posted a review of the popular Camelback Mountain Resort in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains if you can squeeze in a last-minute winter day trip.

Here's what else we covered on the NYC site this week:

Best Things To Do This Weekend with LA Kids: Bikes, Seuss, and Purim February 28 - March 1

Forget about the lion: March is coming in like a firecracker. There's some serious Seussing this weekend, and heaping platters of hamantaschen ahead. (Wash them down with half price drinks)

The bicycle is getting a lot of love this weekend, as are the camellia, vegans, Gene Autry, and old-fashioned toys. There are holidays you know, some you never heard of, and some you may suspect are made up. There is science, and there is cake. Life here, as always, is good.

Now go catch the last hurrah of February (it's full of stars!) and full steam ahead for another great month, (hint: there's going to be a lot of green coming your way!)

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids Feb 28-Mar 1: Maple Sugaring, Flower Show and Black History Month Celebrations

Mother Nature has been generous in giving the Delaware Valley lots of cold, record-setting temperatures in recent weeks. Thankfully, around this time of year she also provides us with a tasty treat, maple syrup! Tyler Arboretum in Media, Peace Valley Nature Center in Doylestown, Wissahickon Valley Watershed Association in Ambler and Churchville Nature Center in Bucks County all host maple sugaring events this weekend.

However, if your mind is dreaming about warmer days, there is a faint sign of spring as the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show begins this weekend at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Get a little taste of spring by seeing the beautiful flowers and gardens on display.

Additionally, Black History Month concludes this weekend and there are many celebrations to attend. Penn Museum hosts its World Culture Series highlighting African culture with music, crafts and cuisine. The African American Museum in Philadelphia presents Macy's Family Fun Day featuring trains and their impact on the lives of African Americans. Lastly, the National Liberty Museum's Black History Month Celebration, complete with a scavenger hunt and hands-on activities, ends this Sunday.

The rest of our top picks for the weekend are below. If you don't see your event, please feel free to submit your event information. And, don't forget to like us on Facebook to see our latest posts!

Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Chinese New Year, Puppet Shows & More, Feb 28 - Mar 1

Celebrations for the 2015 Lunar New Year have been going on throughout the month of February, but this weekend boasts some particularly special events you might want to add to your family's calendar. The Chinese New Year Festival in Boston's Chinatown and the Lunar New Year Festival in North Quincy offer full-blown celebrations that include lion dances and dragons. The Peabody Essex Museum's Lunar New Year event is another fantastic option, complete with dance performances and other fun activities. If the weather finally gives us a break, the Maple Sugaring Tours in Ipswich and the Cape Ann Winter Birding Weekend are fun ways to get outdoors with the kids.

The performance lineup this weekend includes two puppet shows in Brookline: Both The Singing Turtle and Hansel and Gretel are sure to be a hit with the kids. Concerts for families include The Story of Babar in Arlington and Justin Robert and the Not Ready for Naptime Players in Natick.
