Lightyear is a sci-fi action adventure and the definitive origin story of Buzz Lightyear, the hero who inspired the toy.
Lightyear follows the legendary Space Ranger after he’s marooned on a hostile planet 4.2 million light-years from Earth alongside his commander and their crew. As Buzz tries to find a way back home through space and time, he’s joined by a group of ambitious recruits and his charming robot companion cat, Sox. Complicating matters and threatening the mission is the arrival of Zurg, an imposing presence with an army of ruthless robots and a mysterious agenda.
Chris Evans is the voice of Buzz, The voice cast also includes Uzo Aduba, Peter Sohn, Keke Palmer, Taika Waititi and Dale Soules, with James Brolin as the voice of Zurg.
Extras at the El Capitan include a Hyper Launch Laser and Light Show before each screening and a Buzz Lightyear statue for guests to view in the lobby.
The Opening Night Fan Event is June 16 at 7pm. Each ticket includes a reserved seat, a Lightyear hat, lenticular notebook, LED tumbler, credential & lanyard, plus 64 oz. popcorn tub and a 20 oz. bottled beverage. Tickets for this screening are $50 for all ages.
Lightyear has a run time of 1 hour 45 minutes and is rated PG for action/peril.
Lightyear plays at the El Capitan June 16 - July 3. The film returns on select dates from July 13 - 31 for 10am showings.
Sensory Inclusive Screenings: June 25 at 1pm; June 29 at 7pm
