Celebrate a cultural Holiday tradition from Mexico by making, and breaking, a piñata!

Queens Historical Society's Sebastian Ramiraz shares the steps needed to create a 7 pointed star style piñata, a traditional Mexican style of making a piñata, and talks about the history and meaning of the piñata and what makes it such a popular holiday event.

Crafting supplies (BYO):

  • newspaper
  • colored paper to decorate your piñata with (tissue paper, cellophane, crepe paper, hygloss paper)
  • a large balloon (18"-36")
  • glue or engrudo paste
  • scissors
  • tape
