Things to Do in NYC With Kids January 5 and 6: Three Kings Day Celebrations, Music Showcase, Kid-Friendly Theater, Mulchfest

Ponder the current value of gold, frankincense, and myrrh this weekend with Three Kings Day celebrations all over town. TeatroSEA on the Lower East Side invites kids to meet the Three Kings and receive a free gift (if you're one of the first 1,000 to arrive!), or you can make puppets, bop to a Flor Bromley concert, and learn all about camels at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. The Paley Center hosts its own celebration of the distinguished guests with a Three Kings Day party on Sunday.

This weekend also features some very cool performances for kids. Top of the list is Sunday's music showcase, featuring four hours of great tunes from the likes of The Pop Ups, Gustafer Yellowgold, and Lucy Kalanrari. Head to Symphony Space to sing along with the Okee Dokee Brothers, or Brooklyn's Rock and Roll Playhouse to groove to the music of Bob Marley. More kid-friendly shows include a new take on The Little Mermaid at Harlem School of the Arts and the World Famous Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre in Tribeca.

Meanwhile, if you've got a Christmas tree or holiday vegetation that needs to make a quick exit, you're in luck. Mulchfest is back! In Brooklyn, you can drop off your tree at Brooklyn Bridge Plaza.

And don't forget to check out our just-released January GoList and Winter Fun Guide, both filled with must-do winter events. Meanwhile, our Event Calendar is always at your service.
