Happy Father's Day! There are as many events to celebrate Father's Day in New York City this weekend in NYC as there are reasons to love Dad. If Dad's a ComicCon fan, pack him off to BoroughCon. Go to the Children's Museum of Manhattan with the kids to create handmade goodies featuring that dad-friendly material, duct tape. Catch a ride on a vintage train in the Parade of Trains, or kick off your Father's Day early with Bats! Brats! and Beer! Day in the Bronx.
This weekend Coney Island also hosts a little something called the Mermaid Parade followed by opening night of the Brooklyn Cyclones. If farm-to-table is more your thing than fishtails, the family-friendly Edible Academy opens this weekend at the New York Botanic Garden.
This weekend's top family-friendly festival event picks include the rollicking Egg Rolls, Egg Creams, and Empanadas Fest on the LES; the annual Adventures NYC festival in Central Park, with activities from zip lining to rock climbing; and the Rubin Museum's annual Block Party. All are FREE. The Bronx hosts Pollinator's Weekend at Wave Hill and the 15th Annual Hunts Point Fish Parade and Festival. It's also opening weekend for a new pop-up art installation in Soho: Happy-Go-Lucky, featuring eight immersive rooms with names like Rainbow Joy and Pink Beach.
Head to the Brooklyn Museum for the Bring the Cool: Express Yourself Family Festival, or visit the Queens International Children's Festival, which runs all weekend, including a Sunday songwriting event for Father's Day. And last, but never least, head to Snug Harbor for its annual Big Picnic celebration.
