Winter Bird Walk for Beginners

Sat Jan 19, 2019
9:30am to 11:30am ET
Age: 8 and up
Price: Free
Location:
Alley Pond Environmental Center

Walk around Oakland Lake accompanied by Nancy Tognan of the Queens County Bird Club to look for ducks, coots, grebes, swans, geese and more.

Oakland Lake never complete freezes because of all of the spring water constantly feeding it, so it becomes a freshwater duck magnet when other ponds are frozen. Meet at APEC at 9:30 for a brief orientation; learn to use binoculars and a field guide. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Although this walk is free, pre-registration is required as space is limited. Limited to 20 participants.
