Superpower Dogs Day
Celebrate the launch of the newest movie at NYSCI–Superpower Dogs 3D.
Schedule:
- 2 pm: Public Screening, with introduction by Superpower Dogs 3D Producer Taran Davies and cast members, Cat and Halo.
- SUPERPOWER DOGS 3D MEET-AND GREETS: Halo, one of the featured dogs in Superpower Dogs 3D, will be stationed in front of the NYSCI Store, following each screening, with her partner, Miami Dade County Fire Captain “Cat” Labrada. Learn Halo’s training and work as a Disaster Response dog and check out her new book, which will be available for purchase at a very special book signing.
- 4 pm: Public Screening
- Meet Molly, an ambassador for Superpower Dogs 3D, and background actor in the film, in the Science Library, following the 2 pm screening.
Special Dog Activities:
Meet the PupScouts: noon – 3 pm
PupScouts are similar to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. They enjoy earning badges, helping others, and meeting new friends, but this group is strictly for dogs and their families. Join in for a meet-and-greet with the adorable furry members of this group and learn about joining or starting your own troop.
Fire Safety Demo with Molly and the Keep Kids Safe Fire Foundation: 1 pm
Join Molly the dog for a special fire safety presentation with her human, retired firefighter Dayna Hilton. Delight in Molly’s educationally-sound, fun, and life-saving fire safety program. Learn how Molly helps saves lives, and listen to a reading of a children’s fire safety book while Molly helps turn a page or two. Watch Molly demonstrate how she “tests” a smoke alarm and crawls under smoke where the air is safer and cooler in a fire. Learn a fire safety song while Dayna plays her ukulele. The program culminates with Molly raising her paw as she inducts young audience members as Junior Firefighters. After the program, audience members can pet Molly, take a photo with her, and receive a Molly trading card.
Please note: There will be plenty of dogs on-site for guests to mingle with, but visitors are NOT PERMITTED to bring their own dogs on site, unless it is a licensed therapy dog.
