NYCxReuse is organized by the NYC Department of Sanitation’s donateNYC program. Over the course of two days, New York City’s first all-reuse event highlights the many ways in which the City is shaped by materials reuse.
Day 1 of NYCxReuse (June 21) is a full-day public conference including four headline panels featuring high-profile speakers (this year’s panel themes: food recovery, textile reuse, reuse & social services, and the future of reuse); an Innovative Reuse Expo featuring hands-on workshops, activations, samples, and demos of reuse from all over the city and across industries, and a networking session to form connections among participants and attendees.
Day 2 of NYCxReuse (June 22) is a half-day showcase of the nonprofit reuse sector in NYC, featuring 30 donateNYC Partner organizations, all selling secondhand items, accepting donations, organizing demonstrations and leading reuse-oriented activities.
Highlights include a book swap from GrowNYC Stop ‘N’ Swap, a styling workshop and pop-up boutique from Housing Works, and an upcycled pet toy demo and dog adoption area from NYC Animal Care Centers.
