Meet The Scientist in the Discovery Room: Ben Titus
On select Saturday afternoons throughout the school year, children 7 years old and older are invited to come upstairs to the Discovery Room for a chance to talk with an AMNH scientist as they share their passion for science and fascinating findings with you.
February 2: How many homes for Nemo? Few movies have captured the popular imagination about the ocean more than Finding Nemo, but did you know there are over 30 different species of clownfish that live with 10 species of sea anemones? How do clownfish find their homes? How many different homes do clownfish really have? How do clownfish and their sea anemone hosts protect each other? Join Dr. Benjamin Titus, a postdoctoral research fellow in the Division of Invertebrate Zoology at AMNH, to explore the unknown aspects of the clownfish-sea anemone symbiosis that you didn’t learn from Finding Nemo.
Sessions at 2:15pm, 3pm, and 3:45pm.
Space is limited and tickets are distributed at the Discovery Room on a first-come, first-served basis.
