This week at Little New-Yorkers we’ll read The Wall by Eve Bunting, illustrated by Ronald Himler, which tells the story of a boy visiting Maya Lin’s Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial in Washington, D.C., with his father in search the name of his lost grandfather. We will discuss paying respect to service members, the meaning of our family legacy, and the importance of public art. Children will create a crayon rubbing to take home. Join us this week at Little-New Yorkers to celebrate our exhibition Holiday Express: Toys and Trains from the Jerni Collection. We’ll be reading Down in the Subway by Miriam Cohen, illustrated by Melanie Hope Greenberg, and discussing the New York City subway system. Children will create a subway car craft to take home.
