Hayden Planetarium Director of Astrovisualization Carter Emmart takes visitors on a voyage back fifty years, when humans orbited the Moon for the first time and an Apollo 8 crewmember captured Earth floating in space above the Moon’s horizon in the now-iconic photo called “Earthrise.”

Let NASA’s short documentary about Apollo 8’s journey and the Museum’s OpenSpace visualization software bring you back to 1968 – a time of turmoil at home and triumph in space.
