Central Park Tutors are offering FREE live streamed puppet making classes and fun stories. Puppeteer Anna Lublina reads a different story each day and then shows families how to create a puppet character from the book.

Materials needed include paper, cardboard, scissors, markers, and tape! Use the comment section to ask questions, and post pictures!

Monday, March 30: Julian is a Mermaid, by Jess Love
Julián is a Mermaid is a story about a boy and his Abuela. It is a story about revealing ourselves, and the beauty of being seen for who we are by someone who loves us. After the story, make a mermaid puppet.

Materials Needed:
a popsicle stick
white paper
colored markers or paints
scissors
a photo of yourself! (Ideally of your face and torso, 2x3 inches)
scotch tape
gluestick

Tuesday, March 31: Snail and Worm, by Tina Kügler
Combining deceptively simple art with clever wordplay, Snail and Worm is told in three comical, episodic shorts. ranging in topic from adventuring to having pets. After the story, make a puppet worm and snail.

Materials needed:
two chopsticks
construction paper
white paper
scissors
markers

Wednesday, April 1: Amos & Boris, by William Steig
Amos the mouse and Boris the whale are friends who have very little in common. Boris rescues Amos, who has set out to sail the seas - but might there be a time when Boris needs rescuing too? After the story, make 4 mice finger puppets and a clothespin whale puppet!

Materials needed:
white paper
colored markers
scissors
scotch tape
Elmer’s glue
a clothes pin

Thursday, April 2: Dot & Jabber and the Big Bug Mystery, by Ellen Stoll Walsh
Bugs are all over Dot and Jabber's meadow. Then--poof!--they're gone! Bugs can't just disappear, can they? The mouse detectives know a big bug mystery when they see one. After the story, make collage puppets!

Friday, April 3: Gemma and Gus, by Olivier Dunrea
Meet Gemma and Gus, a sister and brother team from Olivier Dunrea's world of Gossie & Friends! Gemma is the big sister. Gus is the little brother. Gus is always following Gemma around, but one day Gus sets out on his own. Now just who is following whom? After the story, make a classic duck paper bag puppet!

Materials needed:
paper lunch bag
yellow paint

large googly eyes
black marker
glue
