170 years ago, the governor of Massachusetts annointed one day in July as "John Banvard Day." At that time, Banvard was the most famous American artist and the first millionaire painter.
You can help bring John Banvard's story to life with this behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the making of Georama; An American Panorama - told on three miles of canvas.
Kids are welcome, as are adults who enjoy mint juleps. Meet the cast, listen to some songs, and see a three-mile-long moving panorama as it scrolls on the walls of the Drama League Theater Center in SoHo. The actors will sing a bit and there will be a Q and A with the cast and musicians and then a scroll the projected painting (800ft long) used in the show. Kids will have the chance to meet the actors and ask questions after the sneak peek.
