Online Exhibition: Spiky, Hairy, Shiny: Insects of L.A.
Not to bug you, but the Natural History Museums of Los Angeles is launching its first-ever online exhibition this weekend: Spiky, Hairy, Shiny: Insects of LA is a selection of insect macrographs pulled from NHMLAC’s groundbreaking Biodiversity Science: City and Nature research project.
To get things off to a good start: this year, Bug Fair is going virtual!
The world of insects is buzzing all around us, but due to their size, most of it is hidden from our view. Through the work of NHMLAC scientists, we can finally see the magnified details of insects from all around L.A.
The online exhibit offers interactive and multimedia components to complement the images and to engage families and children of all ages, including at-home activities for kids such as building a bee hotel and starting an insect journal.
