Join NYC Parks and New York City Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment for this free family screening of Akeelah and the Bee. 

This 2006 family drama stars Keke Palmer as Akeelah a young girl from South Central Los Angeles, with a talent for spelling and a desire to compete in the National Spelling Bee. Despite her mother's objections, Akeelah doesn't give up on her goal.
