Make Music NY: Queens Second Line Swing
Singers, jazz musicians and dancers of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to join this participatory New Orleans-style second line parade as it marches from Corona Plaza to the home of the greatest trumpeter of all time–Louis Armstrong. The Queens Second Line Swing returns for its second season and features songs from Roz Nixon’s musical “Dedication to Louis Armstrong.”
The Swing will depart from Corona Plaza at 12pm and make its way through Corona up to the Louis Armstrong House Museum by 1:00pm for the finale.
Singers, dancers and musicians are welcome to simply show up ready to join the second line, but if you know you will be coming ahead of time please send a courtesy email with the subject line “Second Line Swing” to roznixon@aol.com. Lyric sheets will be provided for all singers and jazz instrumentalists should bring their instrument with them to the parade.
