Intergenerational Virtual Workshop with Artist Tatiana Arocha

Artist Tatiana Arocha leads a live interactive family workshop about nature, texture, and printmaking with natural materials readily available in the home and around the neighborhood.

Participants should go on a nature and house hunt and gather their materials in advance:

  • Different types of tree branches, leaves, and/or tree barks
  • Different types of seeds (ex. nuts, sunflower seeds, almonds)
  • Different types of spices (ex. coffee, paprika, cayenne, turmeric)
  • Mortar and pestle (or any disposable container and heavy spoon)
  • Paper (thicker paper such as watercolor or poster paper is recommended for wet media techniques newsprint or very thin paper is recommended for the rubbings)
  • Crayons (or, alternatively, graphite)
  • Brushes (any types - various sizes)
  • Brayer (or, alternatively, you can use the brushes)
  • Ink (China Ink and/or water soluble block printing inks. Alternatively, coffee or food coloring already in your home works)

Please note that this is a suggested list. Artwork can be created during the workshop even without access to all of the materials listed above.
