First Saturdays for Families: Transformers and Transitions
Sat Apr 6, 2019
10:00am to 12:00pm ET
Age: 4-12
Price: FREE
Drawing inspiration from the Nari Ward: We the People exhibit, families are encouraged to make sculptures of their own with humble and found materials
Characterized by the use of found materials, Ward’s sculptures are rooted in the stories of everyday items and the possibility of creating new narratives through their transformation. Drawing specifically from Harlem, where the artist has lived and worked for over twenty-five years, Ward points to the cultural landscape and textures of the neighborhood.New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children between four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to two adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free.
No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets are not given to partial parties.
