The Wiz Family Day
The Museum of the Moving Image hosts a family day packed with fun and educational experiences related to the classic 1978 movie musical, The Wiz, which was filmed at the Astoria Studios (now Kaufman Astoria Studios), located directly next to the Museum.
Explore the Museum’s collection of original artifacts from The Wiz, and listen to some stories about the film’s creation. Also on the marquee: The Wiz face-painting by The Cheeky Chipmunk, and the opportunity to reenact a dreamy scene from the film in the museum's media lab.
The day kicks off with a 12pm matinee screening of The Wiz in the Museum’s Redstone Theater, introduced by Ms. Renee Brailsford, one of the original dancers in the film.
Museum admission for children 12 and under is free all day (children under 12 don't need tickets, but must be accompanied by an adult with an adult ticket).
