Happy Maurice Sendak Day! On what would have been the beloved children's book artist's 97th birthday, Christie's is partnering with The New York Public Library and FAO Schwarz to celebrate his legacy and offer a Sendak-related storytime by New York Public Library librarians, as well as crafts and giveaways.  

Afterward, visit Christie's across the street at 20 Rockefeller Plaza to see a free exhibition of materials from Maurice Sendak's personal collection, including his own artwork and much more.

The materials are being auctioned (online and in person) to benefit The Maurice Sendak Foundation, a nonprofit organization that encourages, teaches and supports artists who tell stories with illustration. Specifically the auction will support the Sendak Fellowship to support the next generation of children’s book artists.
