An Irish Halloween/Oíche Shamhna: Celtic Magic

Embark on a trick-or-treat adventure, carve a turnip (the original jack-o’-lantern), play age-old Irish Halloween games, and delve into the ancient autumnal tradition of Oíche Shamhna, the eve of Samhain, across which bonfires lit the land orange and the world was believed to open to the realm of spirits.

Come in costume.

Reservations required! You may sign up for one of three entry times:

  • Group 1 runs from 11:30am-2pm
  • Group 2 runs from 1:30-4pm
  • Group 3 runs from 3:30-6pm

Each group participates in the three 40-minute activities described below. Please note that  space is limited. (A limited number of tickets might be available on the day of the event on a first come, first served basis but there is no guarantee.)

Activity 1 (in the Theater): “Moving Words (Halloween Edition) with Selma Daniel” A Dance and Storytelling workshop exploring Irish myths with Irish/Brazilian Artist Selma Daniel of Ireland’s Little Lion Dance Theater and Branar’s Meitheal program.

Activity 2 (in the Library): Halloween Sing-along with Olivia Patino

Activity 3 (in the Studio): Spooky Arts and Crafts with Gregory Corbino
