New Amsterdam School
New Amsterdam is a Waldorf school in the East Village—a small, home-like school where the warm community nourishes children. Teachers integrate art, movement, music, and nature into students' daily lives, igniting the imagination and awakening a life-long joy in learning. New Amsterdam is devoted to the artistic process of developing imaginative and critical thinking, emotional maturity, and social responsibility, and it aims to educate free individuals capable of imagining and creating an inclusive, responsive, and sustainable future.
For the 2019-20 school year, programs will be offered for Infant through Grade 4. A grade will be added each year, eventually serving Infant through Grade 8.
As a member of WECAN (the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America), New Amsterdam School is part of the well-established Waldorf movement that today includes over 1,000 schools and 1,600 early childhood programs in 58 countries.
