Weekend Fun in New Jersey: Fantasy Faire, Lobster Fest, Blueberries Galore
Summer is in full swing this weekend with a host of fairs and festivals throughout NJ. Celebrate world cultures at the XRootsFest; pick your own berries at three blueberry festivals, spread your wings at Fairy Day, and unleash your creativity at the 10th annual Junebug ArtFest.
Blueberry Festivals – Robbinsville and Browns Mills
You have your pick of blueberry festivals this weekend, including the Blueberry Bash at Oasis Family Farm and the Whitesbog Blueberry Festival in Browns Mills. Both events will include lots of kids' activities, pie-eating contests, and of course, plenty of blueberries and blueberry treats.
Strawberry Harvest Festival – Chester
Bring your whole family to Alstede Farms to enjoy all things strawberry, from shortcake to ice cream. While you’re there, take a scenic hayride through the strawberry patch and jump off to pick your own. There will also be pony rides, a bounce house, and other activities.
Parents can dine on lobster while kids play on the inflatables.
Bradley Beach Lobster Fest – Bradley Beach
Bradley Beach is the place to be for lobster lovers. This beachfront event includes delicious lobster offerings, of course, as well as bands, DJs, and more than 180 craft vendors. There will also be water slides, rides, face painters, and sand art for the kiddos. And a beer and wine garden for Mom and Dad. FREE
Fantasy Faire – Millville
Celebrate medieval folklore and fun at WheatonArts and Cultural Center, where the entertainment will include costumed characters and mythical figures, as well as dancing, storytelling, sword demonstrations, and more. Kids can get in on the action with an obstacle course, pirate games, and archery.

XRootsFest – South Orange
Everyone is invited to XRootsFest (pronounced Cross Roots Fest), presented by the South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race. This fun family festival features musicians, dancers, storytellers, merchants, and food vendors representing cultures from four continents.
Freedom Festival – Hamilton Township
If food, fireworks, a car show, 5k, and live bands sound like fun, then the Freedom Festival in Hamilton Township is for you. Admission to this event is free, but tickets are needed to enjoy the rides.
West Point Band’s Steel Drum Band Presents “Music of the Caribbean” – West Point
Relax under the stars at the Trophy Point Amphitheater, where the West Point Steel Drum Band will dazzle you with traditional calypso, American patriotic tunes, and pop songs. Purchasing tickets in advance in recommended.
Junebug ArtFest – Metuchen
Celebrate the 10th year of the Junebug ArtFest this Saturday. Enjoy the exhibits and take part in interactive events including a community mural project, drum circle, and face painting.
Enter the blueberry pie–eating contest at Hammonton's Red White & Blueberry Festival.
Red, White & Blueberry Festival – Hammonton
If you really want to get into the spirit of blueberries, head to the “Blueberry Capital of the World,” Hammonton, NJ. This is the 31st celebration, and it promises to be a big one. Come for the food, kiddie rides, crafters, a car show, pie-eating contest, and more.
Fairy Day – Morris Township
At Frelinghuysen Arboretum, you and your favorite little one can work together to design and create a safe place for fairies to stay when visiting your garden. You can also decorate a tiny fairy boat to float in the water. There will be free snacks! Registration is required.
Firefly Festival – Princeton
Terhune Orchards kicks off the summer with the Firefly Festival. Everyone is invited to wear their wings and enjoy music provided by Grammy Award–winning Miss Amy and her Big Kids Band. Children can also make their own wings, along with bug boxes and antennae, too. Lots of treats will be available. Admission is free, but there is a $5 charge for craft activities.
North Wildwood Italian-American Festival – North Wildwood
The North Wildwood Italian-American Festival is a Jersey Shore fave. Enjoy the Italian ambiance and excitement, including live entertainment, dancing, a Little Miss Italy Pageant, children’s games, grape stomping, and of course, food.
