New Jersey Kids Activities This Week, June 19-23, 2017

Mid-June turns up the heat with outdoor festival excitement and keeps it cool with fun indoor activities. There are rides and games aplenty at the St. Gregory the Great Carnival, the North Wildwood Italian-American Festival, and the famous New Jersey State Fair. Take a break from the heat at Camden Aquarium’s Animal Adventures, Bowtie Cinemas Summer Kids Series, and New Jersey State Museum’s Summer Maker Space.

Monday, June 19

Southern NJ:
Animal Adventures at Adventure Aquarium – Camden
Spend a warm day at this cool aquarium with penguins, hippos, stingrays, sharks, and other sea creatures. Don’t miss the daily shows and feedings.

Central NJ:
St. Gregory the Great Carnival – Hamilton
Have a blast at this six-day fair, featuring rides, games, food, and raffles. Fireworks will take place Tuesday and Saturday. Admission is free.

Bowtie Cinemas Summer Kids Series – Bergenfield, Hoboken, South Orange, Montclair
Escape the heat at a free movie. Bowtie Cinemas presents free family-friendly movies every Tuesday and Wednesday this summer. This week’s selection is Hotel Transylvania. FREE

Central NJ:
Read & Pick at Terhune OrchardsPrinceton
Cherries are the topic of this week’s hands-on event for kids and parents. The fun includes stories and activities, including the opportunity to pick your own cherries. Pre-registration is required.

Summer Maker Space – Trenton
Get the creative juices flowing every Wednesday at New Jersey State Museum, where participants will take part in a hands-on challenge and make a creation to take home. FREE

Northern NJ:
Mommy & Me Storytime – Montclair
Watchung Booksellers presents this weekly storytime for the 2-and-under crowd. Space is limited to 12 children, so you may want to get there early. FREE

New Jersey State Fair – East Rutherford
New Jersey’s ginormous annual festival is back! The 18 days of excitement feature more than 150 rides and attractions, including Kiddieland, shows, concerts, vendors, fireworks, and much, much more.

Central NJ:
Glassboro Summer Fest – Glassboro
​Thursday Night is fun night at Glassboro Town Square, with live bands, food trucks, and kid-friendly activities. Kids can create with clay at this week’s art station. FREE

Friday, June 23

Jersey Shore:
North Wildwood Italian-American Festival – North Wildwood
Delicious eats, vendors, live entertainment, a meatball relay race, a Little Miss Italy Pageant, children’s games, and raffles are all part of the fun at this annual extravaganza at the Shore. The festival runs through the weekend. Admission is free.

Campout on the Beach – Morristown
What a fun way to welcome the summer! Families are invited to camp overnight on Sunrise Beach, with campfires, s’mores, storytelling, and other activities. Pre-registration is required.
