Newark Museum celebrates Black History Month with a look at the Afrofuture, inspired by the museum's Arts of Africa collection and special exhibit Skywriters & Constellations by Kambui Olujimi.

Activities include:

  • A live Afrofuturism inspired music performance.
  • Afrofuturism inspired dance workshops.
  • Learn how to make a staple food item from black culture with an Afrofuturistic spin.
  • Dress for the future in a wearable art workshop inspired by objects from Arts of Africa.
  • A multimedia lecture on the basic tenets of Afrofuturism and its influence on pop culture.
  • Program also includes gallery tours and planetarium shows.
  • Light refreshments will be served.
