Everyone's going Dutch in Shoreline Aquatic Park, and wearing orange, too!
Dutch King's Day is a national holiday in the Netherlands that celebrates the birthday of King Willem Alexander. The largest Orange Party in Southern California is presented by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, at the Shoreline Aquatic Park in Long Beach. Wearing orange is encouraged!
This outdoor family-friendly event features typical Dutch street food like, kroketten, bitterballen (bread crumbed meat-based snack roll or ball), patat friet (Dutch fries with different toppings), 'Hollandse haring' (raw herring flown in from Holland), poffertjes (Dutch mini pancakes), all kinds of home baked Dutch cookies like stroopwafels and imported prepackaged delicacies. Guests can also find Indonesian street food (part of Dutch culinary heritage) like satay and lumpia.
For entertainment: people can listen and dance to live music by the band Good Rockin' Daddy and Dutch DJ Marc van Brabant, play traditional Dutch games (for both adults and kids), flea market, photo ops with different Dutch scenery. And for the adults: a Heineken beer garden - it's the national beer of Holland!
