The "largest 4th of July celebration west of the Mississippi" is back for its 118th year!

Huntington Beach's Independence Day celebrations include a massive four-day pier festival, a 5k run, a decorating contest, a parade, and fireworks. The fireworks display lights up the sky on July 4th in the evening.

Tickets for pier seating or VIP seating go on sale mid-May, but all the fun is viewable from other vantage points on the beach for free.

A total of 1,300 rounds of fireworks are shot off the end of the Huntington Beach Pier starting at 9pm.

Other fun includes the Surf City 5k, the decorating contest, and the parade.

The multi-day festival at Pier Plaza, next to the Huntington Beach Pier, includes activities, entertainment and food.
