Stories from the Land Celebration at LICM
How do you connect to the land? How do you celebrate the land? How do you care for the land? These are questions the Long Island Children's Museum has been exploring with the community and with artist Ella Mahoney from the Wampanoag Tribe of Gay Head in preparation of a Land Acknowledgment statement.
Ella has created beautiful silk paintings reflecting the statement for the outer lobby of the Museum, as well as banners for Our Backyard celebrating connection to the land.
Celebrate the installation of these pieces, then guests can create land stewardship symbols that highlight caring for the Earth.
This event is sponsored by a Humanities New York Action Grant.
Be sure to check our their newest exhibit, Exhibit: Thomas & Friends: Explore the Rails at the Long Island Children's Museum.
