Did you know that lightning bugs glow because of a chemical reaction called bioluminescence? They use this to communicate with other lightning bugs. Learn more at this Long Island Children's Museum activity.

Light up the summer night sky by making a decorative glow in the dark lightning bug jar. This is a drop-in program; it takes approximately 10 minutes and is yours to keep.
