Kalmar Nyckel Tall Ship in Greenport
- see all dates
Except July 29, 2025.
Kalmar Nyckel, the tall ship of Delaware, is returning to Greenport, offering free deck tours on select Saturdays. Visitors can also listen to a talk about the original ship’s history during daily public voyages, which last 2 1/2 hours.
Riders can assist the crew in hauling lines and setting the sails if they wish. Riders can also participate in one of two shipboard scavenger hunts (one for kids and one for ages 12+ and adults).
FREE TOURS: Saturdays, July 26 and August 2 from 3-7pm.
About the ship: Launched in 1997, Kalmar Nyckel is the official tall ship of Delaware. "The ship is a full-scale replica of the Swedish merchant ship that landed in present-day Wilmington in 1638 to establish the colony of New Sweden, the first permanent European settlement in the Delaware Valley," according to a press release by the foundation.
