The Great Backyard Bird Count is an annual four-day event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of where the birds are.

Each February, the world comes together for the love of birds. The Great Backyard Bird Count is an inter-organizational effort between the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada. Citizen scientists are encouraged to spend time in their favorite places

watching and counting as many birds as they can find and reporting them online.
