Oshogatsu Family Festival
Oh rats! (In a good way.) 2020 is the Year of the Rat.
The Japanese American National Museum celebrates the Year of the Rat with a free day-long festival. Guests can participate in rat-inspired crafts, origami, and scavenger hunt.
Other fun activities include a candy-making demonstration, (with a few lucky kids winning the finished pieces!) traditional mochitsuki (Japanese rice pounding ritual) performance by Kodama Taiko, a photo booth and face painting.
Museum visitors can sample Lucky Soba noodles and a selection of traditional Japanese New Year foods, explore the museum, and see a performance by TAIKOPROJECT.
This event is free, but RSVPs are requested. Those who RSVP and show their ticket at the JANM membership table at the Oshogatsu Family Festival are entered into a drawing for a one-year JANM family/dual level membership
