This week we bid goodbye to summer vacation and say hello to the new school year.

But there are still plenty of activities for Long Island kids to get excited about. The Labor Day holiday is Monday, September 4 and promises a number of exciting events, including closing day of the Shinnecock Powwow. Calling all Dickens fans: Come try out for a role in Port Jefferson's December festival.

Dickens Festival casting — Port Jefferson
Enjoy one last character casting for the 22nd annual Port Jefferson Charles Dickens Festival on December 2-3. Teen and tweens are encouraged to attend. The meeting runs from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Port Jefferson Village Center.
