Houston's Best Parks & Trails for Family Bike Rides

Encouraging healthy hobbies is at the top of my priority list when it comes to my kids, and I've tried to make being active a part of their lives since day one. Both kids have accompanied me on many runs in the jogging stroller since they were babies, and they know that if it's a nice day we're doing something outside. Now that my oldest is riding his bike, we frequently head out to different trails together where I'll chase after him with my daughter strapped into the jogging stroller as he flies down trails (his biking has been excellent for improving my running speed) or we'll bike together as a family if my husband is able to come along for the ride.

St. Patrick's Day Fun at Houston's Family Friendly Breweries

The craft beer scene in Houston is as rich and varied as the city itself, and in addition to serving up good beer, many local breweries cater to families by offering a relaxed environment for kids to run around while parents hang out. While the focus in March is typically on Rodeo and Spring Break, there's another holiday that deserves celebrating, too: St. Patrick's Day! And what better way to celebrate than supporting your local beer masters. We rounded up several breweries around town that are opening their doors with festive cheer on St. Patrick's Day this year, so you can relax with a good beer, enjoy games and contests for the family, and fill up on delicious local fare from favorite food trucks around town.

Gyms and Yoga Classes with Childcare in Houston

The beginning of a new year is always a popular time to make healthy lifestyle changes and start a new fitness plan, but getting fit as a parent can bring many challenges. It can be hard to make yourself a priority, and it is often difficult to figure our how to keep your children occupied while you work out. Fortunately, there are quite a few options for gyms and yoga classes with childcare in and around Houston. For some workouts you can do with your children check out Houston's rock-climbing gyms and baby yoga classes.

Exploring the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center

The first time I went to the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center was to attend a wedding when I was almost nine months pregnant. I couldn't believe that this fairytale forest setting existed within the concrete jungle of Houston. The 155-acre nature sanctuary is on Memorial Park's west side, and it is a nonprofit facility that features five miles of walking trails as well as interactive exhibits and habitats.
