Best Things To Do in Houston in January with Kids: Trains Over Texas, Dinosaur Drive-Thru, Outdoor Ice Skating, & MLK Day
We did it! We made it through 2020 and are officially ringing in the 2021 New Year!
There are still some great holiday activities happening through the first couple weeks in January, like Deck the Trees at George R. Brown and the Space Age Christmas Trees Exhibit at the 1940 Air Terminal Museum for everyone looking to squeeze in a little more festive fun. There are also a lot of great outdoor activities happening this month. We recommend checking out the afternoon canoe sessions at the various Harris County Precinct 4 parks and ice skating at Discovery Green and The Woodlands Town Center. Plus enjoy outdoor movies, a dinosaur drive-thru adventure, and lots more.
But the big event in January by far is the 59th Presidential inauguration of President-elect Biden and Vice-President-elect Harris, which you can watch virtually both online and on television.

While we try to promote safe activities that occur outdoors or with social distancing guidelines in place, keep your family and others safe by wearing a mask and maintaining appropriate distance. If you arrive at an event that appears too crowded, try using the “nearby” search feature on our event calendar to find something else to do.
