While January in Houston is definitely a more low-key month after the chaos of the holidays, there are still many great events happening. We are really excited about celebrating The Year of the Rabbit at events like the 2023 Lunar New Years Festival and Japan Junction: Oshogatsu at Levy Park, and the events honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, including the Dream Big WonderWeek at Children’s Museum Houston and MLK Jr. Parade and Festival Downtown.

Also happening this month is Galveston Museum Day, where visitors can glimpse into the Island’s storied past and explore many Galveston museums at special rates.

Find more things to do this January in our Winter Activities Guide and our Indoor Fun Guide.

We’re adding more events to our family activity calendar every day, so don’t forget to check it frequently.  And to get our picks for every weekend in your inbox—sign up for our newsletters.
