Or, celebrate George Washington's birthday with the General himself at Valley Forge Historical National Park! Families looking to see a show can get tickets for Walnut Street Theatre's Garfield: The Musical With Cattitude or The Media Theatre's Disney's Cinderella Kids as both shows conclude this weekend.

Weekend Fun for LA Kids: Cookie Con, Scotsfest, American Girl , Feb 18 - 19

There is a sweet, sweet weekend ahead. That may or may not have something to do with the tantalizing intermingled aromas of cinnamon, vanilla, and... oh, is that ginger... coming from the LA Convention Center, where for two days it's all cookie, all the time. (And maybe a donut or two.)

You know what else is sweet? Two mutts sharing pasta at El Capitan (still on a Valentine's high). Sweet Georgia Brown. Hitting that sweet spot. A day off from school? Sweet! Plus, you're in for a sweet surprise at the LA Zoo, where two of the nicest characters in TVdom, ever curious George and Daniel Tiger, pay visits this weekend.

And, as always, nothing is sweeter than spending time with your nearest and dearest. Aww! Someone give me a hug! cookie! Better make it a double.

Keep reading for our sweetest picks for this weekend...

Weekend Fun for Boston Kids: Lego Building, Ziplining, and a Goat Party; Feb 18-19

After so many snow days (thank you, Mother Nature!), it's hard to believe that February school vacation week is now upon us. It's so easy to go stir crazy inside, so why not start the weekend off by getting everyone OUT? Lego lovers can check out the new exhibit at LEGOLAND opening on Saturday, or head to Wenham for a Lego builder breakfast. Families have two (free!) chances to spend time together creating art at the Bakaler and Paine Galleries as well at the Mosesian Center for the Arts. Meanwhile, at Kids Paint! at the Fuller Craft Museum, children will be focused on making "Cute Owls." If you've ever wanted to party with a goat, Franklin Park is celebrating little Chewbacca's first birthday with festivities all day. For thrill seekers, the Airborne Comedians will be juggling all kinds of things while on unicycles, and in Dewey Square, there's a free event featuring a 200-foot zipline and live (!) alligators straight from Florida.

President's Weekend Fun for Houston Kids: Mardi Gras, Monster Jam, Camp Fairs, Feb 18-20

If you've been in Houston for at least one day this month, you know Mardi Gras is upon us! This weekend kicks off with the third largest Mardi Gras celebration in the nation in our very own Galveston beach. Head down to the island and enjoy tons of parades, concerts, shows and more over the next two weekends. February is also an important month to celebrate Black History Month, and we have some great ideas on how to celebrate and teach your kids.

Now, let's check out what's happening all over Houston this weekend:

Cooking Classes for Kids in Houston

One of my first forays into the kitchen as a kid ended in disaster. Despite having Italian grandmothers who never left the kitchen, my best friend and I managed to confuse Coca-Cola for baking soda (in her defense, she called soft drinks "soda pop") and overload my mother's stand mixer to the point that it started smoking...and had to be replaced. But it's a priceless memory evoked every time I bite into a buttery sugar cookie (the end result of our baking escapades once my mother intervened and pulled out the hand mixer). So if you are looking to create one-of-a-kind culinary experiences for your kids while preserving your precious Kitchenaid Artisan stand mixer, look no further.

President's Weekend Fun for CT Kids: Aircraft, Nature Cruises, and Art Adventures February 18-20

A three-day weekend is ahead and plenty of fun awaits around the state. We've got all kinds of ideas to get outside from seal spotting cruises to a guided nature hike to a farm tour. If you're feeling more of an indoor vibe, check out the Harlem Globetrotters, a puppetry festival or museum adventures in Ridgefield and Newtown

We update our Events Calendar frequently so be sure to check back for even more great suggestions. To keep up with the latest family-friendly events and activities, sign up for our newsletters, and follow us on FacebookTwitter, and Pinterest. If you haven't had a chance, be sure to vote for your favorite Connecticut businesses with our BESTIE awards—there are some terrific prizes for sharing your input.

Presidents Day Weekend for NYC Kids: Dancing, Engineers, Copters

Presidents Day weekend in NYC offers a crazy collision of holidays and family activities. There's a celebration of Losar, the Himalayan New Year, at the Rubin Museum. The Brooklyn Children's Museum launches a full week of special events celebrating Black History Month. Then there's Presidents Day, dominated by the New-York Historical Society, but that's not the only presidential show in town: the Mount Vernon Hotel and Garden throws a reenactor-rich Washington birthday bash on Sunday.

As if that's not enough, non-holiday events abound, with separate Elizabeth Mitchell and Antibalas concerts fighting for space with a sword dancing festival on Saturday. There's also a Culinary Kids Weekend celebration, and new children's theater: Love that Dog.

Of course, Monday officially ushers in the midwinter break for most kids, so we've culled together 35 Fun Things to Do in NYC this coming week, including Kids Week at the Intrepid and Engineering Week at NYSCI.

Don't forget our roundup of the best winter events for NYC preschoolers and tots or our guide to the best winter shows for NYC kids. As always, our Event Calendar and February GoList have even more ideas for family-friendly fun in the Big Apple.
