Weekend Fun: Egg Hunts, Seals, and Mary Poppins, April 1-2

The weekend forecast doesn't promise the warm and sunny blast of spring that we've been longing for so it looks like we're going to have to make our own fun. With an event calendar as busy as ours, that shouldn't be too hard. Kick the Easter season off with egg hunts in New Canaan and Fairfield or enjoy some fantastic performances including Peter and the Wolf, Mary Poppins, Pete the Cat, and Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Be sure to check with the venues directly for any outdoor activities in the event of weather-related schedule changes.

We hope you'll follow Mommy Poppins Connecticut on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and subscribe to our newsletters to stay in touch. Have a great weekend!

Hop Aboard the Easter Bunny Express: Train Rides for Kids Near Philly

Spring is in the air, and many of our scenic railroads are celebrating the season with Easter excursions. Families are invited to get outside after a long winter to enjoy a trip through the countryside with Peter Cottontail himself! We have rounded up several Easter-themed trains that are running special events for kids in the Delaware Valley.

Some of these trains include an Easter Egg hunt at the halfway stop. It is helpful to check whether the railroad provides a photographer and charges for a picture with the Bunny or if you can bring your own camera.

These Easter Bunny Trains can be the start of a great family tradition to celebrate the Easter holiday and to welcome Spring!  Be sure to check our calendar for more fun spring events.

Weekend Fun: Children's Carnival, Easter Bunny, Wild Rumpus

What New York City kid doesn't love something odd and out of the ordinary? The city gets a bit weird on April Fools' weekend, and that's good. On Saturday, there's a giant Pillow Fight in Washington Square Park, and a wild rumpus in Brooklyn. On Sunday, the Rubin Museum of Art invites kids to draw sound (huh?) while the Museum of Jewish Heritage throws a Matzapalooza where kids can dress as a Passover plague. That's right: Biting insects. Fiery hail.

Not so odd, but certainly once-in-a-lifetime, this weekend is Prospect Park's 150th Anniversary Opening Weekend, which is so stuffed with fun that we can't detail it all here. But chief among its lures is FREE admission for kids all weekend at the Prospect Park Zoo.

Please welcome our April GoList and keep it well-combed through in the coming weeks, as well as our guide to the season's best children's theater (a new circus, Peter Rabbit, Peppa Pig). And by the way, check out our cool new tween-specific GoList.

Also, check out the Spring Fun Guide loaded with Easter fun and outdoor play. Egg hunts and bunny brunches kick off this weekend! And don't forget to peruse our packed Event Calendar.
