Weekend Fun for LA Kids: Dragon Boats, Dance Day, and Soda Tasting, July 30 - 31

I hear you knocking, August, but you can't come in. I am too busy with my Julyapalooza. I'm dancing like there's no tomorrow, drinking my fill of international soda, and riding my dragon boat into the sunset to watch the stars come out. What's that sound you hear? Only the moonlit Brian McKnight/ Michael Feinstein/ tributes to all my favorite artists concerts I'm listening to. What's that sight you see? Only the classic cars, Malibu art, spacefaring circus, and sciency science that are part of this so very July weekend.

Join me for a spot of Elf liberating tea? Or a nibble of kitty shaped cookies? Or a bacon Nutella pickle? Such a very middle of the summer way to snack!

You'll get your chance, August. With your back to school and your, I don't know, maybe colder weather or something? But for now, we are in the heart of summer, and it is glorious. And maybe a little hot.

Weekend Fun for Philly Kids: Car Show, Birthdays, Harry Potter July 30-31

For many Philly families, summer weekends are relaxed, unplanned, lazy, full of possibilities. So, if your calendar is open and you are searching for some excitement, look no further. Our events calendar is exploding with fun just in time for the weekend.

Nature lovers can start the weekend by waking up early to bird watch at Bucktoe Creek Perserve or Churchville Nature Center. Is your family ready to party? Celebrate at two local venues as both Sesame Place and Franklin Square recognize birthdays this weekend. Indulge in delicious foods including sweet corn, honey and BBQ at festivals throughout the area. Or check out the fast cars and Kids Zone at East Passyunk Avenue's Car Show and Street Festival.

If you have Harry Potter fans in the house, the most important thing about this weekend is the release of J.K. Rowling's latest book, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Many bookstores such as Big Blue Marble Bookstore, The Doylestown Bookshop, and Children's Book World are having events to mark the occasion.

Weekend Fun for CT Kids: Sunflowers, Fire Trucks, and Festivals, July 30-31

It’s the end of July! With days getting shorter and only about a month to go before most students return to school, it’s tempting to feel sorry for ourselves and denounce the fleeting summer season. But summer isn’t quite over. In fact, there’s still much to look forward to: vegetables and fruits abound, sunflowers are aglow, and plenty of days remain to explore the beach or venture to a nearby amusement park

This weekend, enjoy the sunshine while letting the kids navigate their way out of the train-themed Lyman Orchards Sunflower Maze, go stargazing at Trumbull Nature and Arts Center, or watch a free movie under the stars.

The last weekend in July has both indoor and outdoor fun in store. See what that sly Curious George is up to at the Smithtown Center for the Performing Arts. Build a Bug House at The Maritime Explorium in Port Jefferson and then roller skate around the harbor. Chug-a-choo-choo on down to Southaven Park for a ride with the Long Island Live Steamers.

Weekend Fun for Westchester Kids: County Fairs, Harry Potter Parties

A bounty of festivals and outdoor arts continues this weekend for Westchester and Hudson Valley families, with a mix of live performances, carnival action and a few twists.

The Orange County Fair, first held in 1840, has thrills and chills of various sorts. Just about anything presented at Caramoor is usually worth a visit, with the added perk of the gorgeous grounds your family can explore; this weekend also enjoy the return of the annual Jazz Festival.

At Arts in the Amphitheater: Theater Nights, actors respond to audience prompts by performing a segment from any work of Shakespeare that’s called out. All ages are encouraged to think like an artist at Family Day. And nothing says summer like the annual Sand Castle Competition.

12 Outstanding Outdoor Dining Spots for You and the Kids in Fairfield County

There are two things that every child needs to thrive: fresh air and food. Sure, they also need unconditional love, education, support, etc, etc, etc, but lucky for us, fresh air and food are pretty easy to come by in Fairfield County.

Some of our first family dining experiences were at outdoor restaurants - the atmosphere just seemed a little bit more relaxed than being stuck inside with a screaming infant.  Take advantage of the extra hours of light this summer by enjoying these outdoor dining experiences. From the traditional lobster roll, to the not-so-traditional walking nachos, to lakefront, to beachfront, Fairfield County has a little bit of everything.  Make sure you check out the Facebook and Instagram accounts of these restaurants to take advantage of special events and menus.
