This weekend, Chicago parents can take a well-deserved break from entertaining the littles, with kid-friendly shows and theater cropping up all over town. We Found a Hat, based on the subtly hilarious children's book by Jon Klassen, opens this weekend in Rogers Park, the Puppet Place brings its (free!) updated fairytale The Magic Onion to Arlington Heights, and kid creativity drives the improv action with The Greatest Story Never Told, also opening this weekend in Lake View. Plus, every preschooler's favorite canine law enforcers (say it together now: "Marshall, Rubble, Chase, Rocky, Zuma, Skye, yeah!") star in this weekend's PAW Patrol Live! Race to the Rescue at the Chicago Theatre. If woodland creatures are more your jam, this is also the final weekend for the Roald Dahl classic The Fantastic Mr. Fox at the Victory Gardens Theater in Lincoln Park.
There's also plenty of FREE outdoor and indoor fun to be had: The Brookfield Zoo is free all weekend, the Museum of Contemporary Art holds a free family day on Saturday, and the American Writers Museum hosts its weekly free storytime for lit-loving preschoolers.
Don't forget our list of indoor play zones is a great backup plan for when the kids (and you) need to get out of the house, and our event calendar is updated with fresh picks daily. Enjoy the weekend!
