The Mashantucket Pequot Museum & Research Center

The Educational Powwow is a narrated exhibition that showcases Native American dancers and explores the significance of this cultural gathering for indigenous people.

The educational powwow begins with the Grand Entry, during which all the dancers line up by dance style and age and enter the museum's glass enclosed Gathering Space in a parade format. (Grand Entries are scheduled for 11 am and 2 pm.)

Drum groups will provide the music for the dancers and an emcee will explain the intention and meaning for each of the dance styles and give historical context.

This indoor event is FREE with museum admission. There will also be eastern woodland cuisine and Native artists demonstrating and selling their crafts.
