Every other year, the Wenham museum presents Train Time, an display of room-size model train layouts built and exhibited by our model train volunteers! This year, the theme is Farm to Table by Train! Train fans can discover the role our railroads have played in moving food from the fields to our tables since the early 1900s in a display of room-size model train layouts and memorabilia. Get an engineer's view as you push the layout operating buttons to start the tiny locomotives traveling through country landscapes and stop at cattle, dairy and produce farms. Imagine waiting at the station platform as you stand next to a full-size antique baggage cart loaded with antique milk cans, luggage and steamer trunks once used in the 1920s. And see a rare display of large locomotive models built by renowned model builder Wilbur T. Frey and vintage railroad advertisements.
This exhibit opens this weekend and runs through February 22, 2015.
