Mindful Fun Yoga at Garden Nursery School

0

In Mindful Fun Yoga at Garden Nursery School, students ages 3.5 to 7 are introduced to yoga using the natural world as a guide. Children will explore various themes under this broad category such as changing seasons, animals and their varied habitats, and different natural environments like deserts, beaches, and forests. Toward the end of each week, kids use their new-found knowledge of yoga to enact stories from different cultures around the world.

Each class will include a simple component of mindfulness—like easy breathing exercises and thoughtful self-reflection—as well as group reflection activities. The yoga program includes games, songs, stories, arts and crafts, free play, and mindfulness activities for children.

The program runs from 9am to 12pm. Students must be potty-trained.

MLK Scholastic Camp

0

Using a novel approach to teaching, the MLK Scholastic Camp offers rising 5th-8th graders a great opportunity to keep current with their studies while still enjoying summer fun. It is designed to reinforce students' skills during the summer months when kids often lose ground academically. Absorbing, growth-oriented exercises help campers develop persistence and self-confidence in problem solving.

Students will enjoy stimulating classes in mathematics and English/language arts plus engaging assignments to develop agency, teamwork, and self-confidence. Animating recreational activities in the afternoons will keep them amused. Likewise, thrilling pursuits on field trips to various places in and around Boston will keep them entertained on Fridays.

Camp takes place at the Ella J. Baker House at 411 Washington Street in Dorchester. Breakfast and lunch are served every day at no cost to the student.
