Big Picture Art House

0

offers photography and film classes for kids and teens in the Boston Area. Classes are run by founder, Jennifer Connelly, and take place during school vacation weeks, occasional weekends and summer. The typical age group is 6-9th graders with the most common student age of 13.

Big Picture offers a "boutique" learning experience for no more than 7 students per class. It is part art school/part camp. Our home base is the Big Picture teaching space near the Franklin Park Zoo, where we conduct lessons, review work and edit our projects. About 2/3rds of the class takes place "on the go" shooting and filming around the Boston area in fun locations like the North End, Castle Island, Newbury Street,Chinatown and more.

Photography workshops provide each student with their own professional digital SLR camera. Film workshops are collaborative efforts, where the students together write, shoot, act and edit their own short film.

Boating in Boston offers three boating day camps that strive to teach safe boating in a fun learning environment by instructing and reinforcing boating safety and skills. The goal is to teach campers both independence and teamwork and to promote self-confidence through sailing and paddle sports. It’s high-energy outdoor fun on the water, with no shortage of games and engaging activities. The camper-to-staff ratio is 8 to 1, promoting personal interactions between campers and counselors.

Boating in Boston's camps are a great way to spend summer days having fun and making new friends. Whether kids are getting their hands dirty on a paddle at River Adventure Camp or feeling the wind in their face as they raise the sails at Boating Is Fun Camp, it will be a summer for all to remember and the beginning of a love for being on the water and going boating!

Boston Children's Chorus Summer

0

Kids ages 7-11 can join BCC Summer for four weeks of singing, friendship, and world-expanding fun. Dive into songs that celebrate diversity, connect us to a global community, and explore social and environmental justice. Activities include singing, dancing, drumming, art-making, storytelling, weekly excursions, and much more. Celebrate each week with a Friday evening concert, open to the public. No audition required.

Parent testimonial:
“Our kids loved [BCC Summer]. The multidimensional exploration with dance, drumming (awesome!), and visual arts was especially great from their perspective—and the social justice component has stuck with them. Great repertoire sang that week—they have been continuing to sing all the pieces, along with expressing the music through movement.”
