Algonquin Arts Theatre (AAT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1992 with the mission to provide cultural enhancement and arts education to all audiences at the Jersey Shore.
Since 1994, live music, dance, theatre and other popular entertainment programs have been presented. Performers range from individual artists and small ensembles to the full complement of major ballet companies and Broadway-style show casts. Performers come from just up the road and across the globe. Main Stage performances are drawing annual audiences of nearly 20,000.
AAT offers valuable educational programs, diverse performances and artist-lead workshops to nearly 15,000 children, ages 3 to 18, from approximately 230 schools throughout Monmouth, Ocean and the surrounding counties. Our after school and summer Performing Arts Academy continues to grow with more than 250 students enrolled in at least one class during the 2011-12 year.
A variety of films, both independent and from major studios, are presented in the theatre year-round. The Reel History Film Series and Kidz Filmz, a film festival for children launched in 2012, are collaborations with the Garden State Film Festival.
