Pirates, Goblins, or Wonder Woman: Best Places to Buy Halloween Costumes in Fairfield County

Every year, I get a certain catalog in the mail filled with all kinds of wonderful Halloween costumes. It arrives in late August/Early September and promptly ends up in “the pile.”  By time I get around to actually look through it, I realize that most of the costumes are out of stock and/or rush shipping is our only option of getting it to us on time to wear it to one of five bazillion Halloween Events that seems to have popped up on my calendar. Or maybe your child wants a truly uniquely creative costume that seems to only exist in the land of pure imagination. If you - like me -have found yourself in this predicament then, here's the rundown on where to snag Halloween costumes in Fairfield County.

Summer Daytrip to Monroe

Monroe is a quiet, little outpost north of Bridgeport on the way to Danbury, with the obligatory (and lovely) town green/gazebo this state is known for.  But that old town center is now a long way into town from the highway — most of Monroe's hustle and bustle these days is along one of two corridors — route 25 or route 111 (Monroe Turnpike), near the Trumbull line.  That being said, there are a couple of outdoor gems off the beaten path that make a trek out from lower Fairfield County worth the time spent getting there, whether your kiddos are tiny or teens.

Wondrous, Wild Waterfalls Waiting for You in Connecticut

Waterfalls are amazing creations of nature that astound even the hardiest hiker and outdoor lover. The water pounding on the rocks, the splash of the spray, and the shallow wading pools leave the kids with lasting memories. Connecticut is lucky to be home to hundreds of waterfalls; many of them are accessible with just short walks and a little effort for all ages. Of course, please exercise caution at all of these sites as rocks are slippery when wet! Date (Night) Like a Pro in Fairfield County

OMG Date night. That nocturnal necessity designed to keep parents as sane as possible. I don't know about you, but for me, a successful date night involves getting out the door before bedtime. Sure, it's mostly because that way I'm home before my bedtime, but also because once in a while it's really OK to let somebody else read just one more book...a dozen times. Once you've made your escape...now what? It's easy to forget how to fill leisure time when you're a parent. That's why I've rounded up some date night ideas that are more than just dinner and drinks in Fairfield County. This is precious time, use it to step a little outside your comfort zone for some adventure (and then when you're done maybe dinner and drinks...)! So bring on the babysitter, lace up your big kid shoes, and get out there for some well-deserved you time!
