Easter Egg Hunts and Events in Fairfield County, CT

We're not a religious family, but that doesn't stop us from getting out and enjoying traditions associated with Easter, and fortunately, there are plenty of events to choose from all over Fairfield County. Many families enjoy a Easter Bunny brunch, while others like to get outside and enjoy Springtime's arrival. Most of these events are geared towards preschoolers and younger elementary age children so, if you have older kids, be sure to check the descriptions carefully. Also note that some events require pre-registration and/or prepayment. Have a hopping good time!

Going for the Gold: 20 Ice Skating Rinks for Future Connecticut Olympians

Okay, it may have been more than forty years ago, but the 1976 Olympics looms large in my childhood memories: in fact, I was so enthralled by Dorothy Hamill that I rocked her signature haircut well into my tween years (in hindsight, that was perhaps a few years too long). When the 2018 Winter Olympics open in Pyeongchang later this week, I don't know if my kids will be so enthralled that they'll be demanding Bradie Tennell or Adam Rippon haircuts, but a parent can dream!

Should you find your child enjoying some Olympic dreams of his/her own, there is an abundance of learn-to-skate programs offering everything from figure skating to ice dancing and even ice theater--with some offering February vacation week camps. For even more recommendations for winter fun when you're not watching the games, check out our CT Winter Fun Guide and subscribe to our weekly newsletters and follow us on FacebookTwitterPinterest, and Instagram. Have a great week!

Bounce, Jump, and Slide into Kids Klub at the Trumbull Mall

Trumbull Mall was one of my first outings as a new mom, I remember finding the Family Lounge and feeling like Indiana Jones when he found the Lost Temple. This is one of the most family friendly malls I have ever been to - they have tons of kid-friendly dining options, family parking, and a playspace (not to mention a carousel!). So you can imagine my delight when I stumbled across the newly opened Kidz Club in Trumbull.

Christmas Tree Farms in Fairfield County

As a child, I went every year with my family to a local Christmas tree farm to cut down our tree.  It was inevitably freezing cold, someone (usually me) desperately had to go to the bathroom, someone (ok, me too…) had forgotten their mittens, epic arguments over the size and shape would ensue…in short, it was magical!  It’s time to introduce my own kids to that wonderful holiday tradition, and there are plenty of places in Fairfield and Litchfield Counties where you can cut your own tree.
