Weekend Fun: Parades, Pajama Parties, and Maple Syrup; March 9-10

What to do this weekend with Connecticut kids

It's the weekend before Saint Patrick's Day, and that means that two of the largest annual parades and celebrations of all things Irish in New England are stepping off in Hartford and New Haven. If you can't get to these parades, how about...yet another a St. Pat's Parade?  Or, if you're in Southwestern CT, you can take in a parade there (OK, we'll stop now). If lots of Irish-themed marchers aren't your thing, grade school-aged children can watch and listen as Little Red Riding Hood Rides Metro North, with an orchestra "petting zoo" after. Finally, the all-too-brief maple sugaring season continues this weekend, with festivals and demonstrations in New Canaan, East Hartland, and Washington, among many others.
