Chicago is a sports-loving town, and what better way to introduce your kids to the world of ice hockey than with a live Chicago Wolves game. Not only are the Wolves hopefully on their way to a fifth league championship, but they put on one heck of a show for fans of all ages. With affordable tickets, concessions, and easy parking, plus kid-friendly face painting, fireworks, and fun photo opps at every game, a trip to Allstate Arena makes a great addition to your family's winter bucket list.

Read on to find out how to snag tickets to an upcoming game, an exclusive 43% discount for Mommy Poppins readers, and for some helpful tips on getting the most out of your visit to the arena with kids.

Kid-Friendly Fun and Attractions

While the hockey game is certainly the main event, Allstate Arena has tons of fun activities for the Wolves' youngest fans—like the fireworks display and pyro and laser light show that kick off every game! Note: If you have kids who are sound-sensitive, you might want to consider tickets in sections 112-116 and 212-216, which are farther away from the booms. You'll still get amazing visuals, but with a little less noise.

Keep an eye on the Jumbotron for fun trivia and videos, and fan interactions!

Inside the arena, look for Skates, the Wolves' friendly mascot, who is always up for a high five and a photo. Stop by the Kids Zone in the main concourse (behind section 109) for face painting and other fun activities. The Radar Cage near section 106 also gives kids (and grown-ups) a chance to test out their best slap shots to see how fast and hard they can shoot the puck! Throughout the game, keep an eye on the Jumbotron for fun trivia, videos, and fan interactions, plus be prepared to catch a coveted t-shirt from the famed t-shirt cannon.

At select games, the fun starts right at the door with cool giveaways for the first fans to arrive at the arena. On Saturday, March 5, for example, the first 2,500 ticket holders will take home a Wolves Snow Globe courtesy of Jewel-Osco—plus, fans are invited to bring along their skates for a free postgame skate courtesy of Jiffy Lube. Check the Chicago Wolves calendar for other special giveaways and events.

Masks are required for all fans over the age of 2 unless they’re eating or drinking.

Because all parents know that bathroom accessibility is an issue at any event, note that there are multiple restrooms on both levels of the Allstate Arena. The biggest ones with the most privacy are on the top corners of the arena. Also, you can bring in a stroller and a diaper bag—just refrain from bringing a backpack or other large bags. The closest parking lot to the door is the South lot, in case you want to make a quick exit.

Tickets and Parking

With tickets starting at $16, pricing is far more accessible than most professional sports. Families can also save with Fan 4 Packs, which include four tickets along with hot dogs, sodas, and popcorn for the whole family for a small cost over the ticket price. The Allstate Arena is located in Rosemont, just off of I-90 and not far from I-294, which allows parents the chance to drive to the game from the city and many suburbs. Parking is just $15 (cash only), and much easier to find than at many other Chicago sports venues. Safety Precautions

Allstate Arena’s COVID guidelines follow the Cook County Department of Public Health Mitigation Guidance, which requires everyone age 2 and up to wear masks indoors unless they are actively eating or drinking. There are also a temporary requirement for all fans 5 and up to show proof of vaccination at the door.

The Wolves currently lead the Central Division of the American Hockey League.

The Chicago Wolves Team

The Wolves recently went on a 12-game winning streak and own a healthy lead in the American Hockey League’s Central Division. In 28 years as a franchise, the Wolves have won four league championships. They’ve also won four of the last five division titles. The current team boasts three of the league’s top five scorers in captain Andrew Poturalski and linemates Stefan Noesen and CJ Smith. Wolves goaltenders Alex Lyon and Eetu Makiniemi are among the top five goalies in the league, thanks in part to a stout defense led by Jalen Chatfield and Max Lajoie.
