Big kids who aren't afraid of the dark can experience a full lunar eclipse along with a moonlit night hike with naturalist Renae Frigo at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse. The hike takes place from 8-9 p.m. before the partial eclipse begins at 9:33 p.m. The full eclipse starts at 10:41 p.m. and reaches its maximum point at 11:12 p.m. The eclipse ends at 11:43 p.m.

Participants can stop in to the Lake Ellyn Boathouse for hot chocolate, but much of the event takes place outside. Hikers are encouraged to dress for the weather. There is no school for many districts on Monday, January 21, because of the Martin Luther King holiday.
