Home for the holidays? Lucky you, because this city offers loads of December vacation week fun for kids and adults. In the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve there are still holiday shows aplenty, including the Urban Nutcracker, Christmas Revels, and Boston Ballet's production of The Nutcracker (check out our tips for taking a preschooler before you go). Holiday pop-up Boston Winter and dazzling light displays like Christmas Festival of Lights and Blink! are open through the end of the year. If Santa was extra generous and your child received a museum membership, this is a great week to start using it—many museums roll out the red carpet for families during vacation week with special programs. Our picks cover the range of cool things to do, from shows to museum programs to taking the kids to the zoo for free.
Have wonder-filled winter week, and remember to check our Event Calendar for more ideas each day.

It is filled with toe-tapping fiddle tunes, lilting Cajun two steps, gorgeous anthems, and familiar touchstones like the Sussex Mummers Carol and Lord of the Dance.
